Our Story
Everybody here came up under somebody.
Ask a tattooer who trained them and you'll learn more about their work than any portfolio will tell you. Tattooing doesn't have a diploma. It has a lineage — who sat you down, who made you do the same line four hundred times, who told you it wasn't good enough yet.
Every artist in this building can name theirs.
Brandon Kinser founded WarHawk back in 2015. Seventeen years in the chair by now, trained under Devin Sheehy in Cincinnati, and the lettering and script work he's known for is the reason a lot of people drive past three closer shops to get here.
That first shop outgrew itself. In 2022 WarHawk opened on Jameson Avenue in Lima, and what started as one artist became a full crew.
Every style under one roof, which is rarer than it sounds. Most shops have a house style and everything gets bent toward it. Here, if the piece calls for something one of us doesn't do, somebody twenty feet away does.
This is permanent art. Not a transaction, not a souvenir, not something you sit through and forget. It goes on your body and it stays there while everything else about your life changes. We treat it like that.
